Overview
WeightStock is a weight tracker for iPhone and iPad. It has no accounts, no sign-in and no servers of its own: your readings, notes and goal are stored on your device and never come to us.
Your weight and health data never leave your device. The only third party that receives any data from the app is Google AdMob, which serves the one banner ad that keeps WeightStock free, and it receives no health or weight data. The app never asks to track you, so ads are not personalised. If you buy the optional "Remove Ads" purchase, the app stops requesting ads.
Contact and support
Questions, problems, feature requests or anything about your data: Business@joemet123.com. Put "WeightStock" in the subject and you will have a reply within 30 days. Joemet123 LLC is the data controller for this app.
What the app stores
The weights and body-fat percentages you log, the notes you attach to them, your goal, and your settings (units, direction, chart choices) are saved on your device, inside the app. Deleting a reading removes it; "Erase all data" in Settings removes everything; deleting the app removes all of it from that device. The app does not ask for your name, email address, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or location.
Apple Health
Apple Health is optional. If you choose to sync, iOS asks for permission to read two things: weight and body fat percentage. WeightStock only reads; it never writes anything to Apple Health. If you turn on "Sync when the app opens" in Settings, new readings are read on your device when you open the app. You can turn that off in Settings, and remove the app's access at any time in the Health app.
Data read from Apple Health is used only to draw your charts and work out the numbers shown in the app. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never given to Google or anyone else, and never sold.
Importing, exporting and sharing
"Import data" reads a file you pick (an Apple Health export, or a CSV from RENPHO, Withings, Fitbit or another app) on your device; nothing is uploaded. Backups and CSV exports are files that go wherever you choose through the iOS share sheet. "Share your progress" draws an image on your device, which likewise goes only where you send it, and it can hide your actual weight so it shows changes only. We never receive any of these files or images.
Sample data
"Explore with sample data" fills the app with a made-up history generated on your device. It contains no real person's readings and is removed when you log or import your own.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version shows one banner ad, served by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. The app never shows Apple's tracking prompt and never receives your device's advertising identifier, so ads are chosen without tracking you across other apps. To serve and measure the ad, Google's software in the app may collect:
- IP address, and an approximate, city-level location derived from it;
- device model, operating system version and language;
- whether an ad was shown, seen or tapped;
- diagnostic and performance information about ad delivery.
Google uses this to choose and measure ads and to detect fraud and invalid traffic. How Google handles it is described in Google's Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Your readings, notes and Apple Health data are never given to the ad software.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's consent form is shown before any ad is requested, and you can reopen it at any time from the "Privacy choices" button in the app's Settings, under Ads. The app also includes Apple's SKAdNetwork identifiers, which let ad networks count installs that came from an ad without identifying you.
Purchases (Apple)
The app sells exactly one thing: an optional, one-time "Remove Ads" purchase. Once you own it, the banner disappears and the app stops requesting ads on every device signed in to your Apple Account. It is sold through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple processes the payment and holds your payment details; the app only receives Apple's confirmation that the purchase completed. Purchases are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and the App Store terms, and "Restore purchase" in Settings re-checks with Apple on a new device.
Not medical advice
WeightStock is a tracking tool. It does not give medical advice, and its charts and projections are not a diagnosis. Talk to a doctor before starting a weight-loss or weight-gain plan.
Children
WeightStock is a general-audience app and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age: the app has no accounts and no way to send us anything from inside it. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at the address above and we will help remove it.
Your choices and rights
You control your data directly: edit or delete any reading in History, export everything, erase all data in Settings, remove Apple Health access in the Health app, or delete the app. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the "Privacy choices" button reopens Google's consent form. For data processed by Google AdMob, you can exercise your rights with Google as described in its privacy policy. If you live in a region with data protection rights such as access, correction or deletion, write to us at the address above and we will help.
Security and retention
We operate no servers and hold no database, so there is nothing for us to retain, breach or hand over. Your readings stay on your device until you delete them, and Google retains advertising data under its own policies.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date. If the app ever begins to collect something it does not collect today, that change will appear here and in the App Store's own privacy labels before it ships.
